The Solar & Battery Guide Newsletter

A free monthly email on home solar and battery rule changes, net billing updates, incentives and new calculators. No sales pitches, unsubscribe anytime.

Last updated:

Rules for home solar change faster than most people expect. In the last year alone, the 30% federal Residential Clean Energy Credit ended for systems completed after 2025, and more utilities moved toward net billing. Our free monthly newsletter keeps you current without the sales pitch.

What you'll get

Each issue is short and practical. A typical issue includes:

  • Rule changes that matter. Federal tax updates, state commission decisions on net metering and net billing, and changes to state or utility incentive programs, each with a link to the official source.
  • New and updated guides. What we published or revised, and what changed on the page.
  • Calculator updates. New tools and any changes to default numbers, such as updated electricity prices.
  • One practical tip. For example, how to compare two quotes on price per watt, or what to check in a lease's escalator clause.

We do not send installer offers, lead forms or "get a free quote" promotions.

How often

The newsletter goes out once a month. If a major rule change affects many readers between issues, we may send a short alert, but we keep those rare.

Languages

Sign up from the English, Spanish or Chinese version of the site and we record that language, so issues can be sent in the language you chose when available.

What we collect and why

When you subscribe, the form sends your email address, the site language, the page where you signed up and your consent to receive the email to our server, which forwards it to our team inbox for adding to our mailing list. We use this only to send the newsletter and to understand which pages lead readers to sign up. We do not sell or share your email address, and we do not use it for advertising. The privacy policy explains how long we keep it and your rights.

You must tick the consent box to subscribe. That keeps our list made up of people who actually asked to hear from us.

Unsubscribing

Every issue includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email and ask us to remove you. Once you unsubscribe we stop sending, and we delete your address from the active list.

Prefer not to subscribe?

Everything in the newsletter is also on the site. Check our guides and calculators, which show the date they were last updated.

Frequently asked questions

Will you share my email with installers?

No. We do not sell, rent or share subscriber emails, and we take no referral fees from installers or lenders. Your address is used only to send the newsletter.

How do I unsubscribe?

Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email, or write to and ask us to remove you. We stop sending once your request is processed.

Is the newsletter free?

Yes. It is free and contains no advertising today. If we ever include a sponsored item or affiliate link, it will be clearly labeled.
